The Indian sari is draped in number of ways. As India is a land of diverse religions and cultures there is lots of diversity in draping the sari. The style of wearing sari changes from region to region in India.
In reality there are 10 to 15 different styles of draping the sari throughout India. But there are three basic styles
1.The Nivi
2.The Northern
3.The Maharashtrian Kachha
It's very hard to believe that each and every state has its variations in the styles of sari draping depending on the different communities. In the state Bihar in itself there are more then a dozen ways of draping sari. The women folk in Gujarat, Bengal and Tamil Nadu have altogether different styles of draping sari and you can easily differentiate the women folk from various parts of India just by the style of draping the sari.
Each region in India has its own unique sari style in terms of weaving style and variety on the basis of different fabrics. The North India is famous for Banarsi, Tanchoi, Chikan , Jamdani etc. In the eastern part of India its Baluchari and Kantha. If you go to south India you have famous kanjivaram and mysore silk. Other popular styles are chanderi, bandhani from western India.
Sari is a unique unstitched outfit which suits to every generation and even in the modern fashion world it's the first choice of film stars, Indian heroines and the young or the old women when it comes to occasions like weddings or festivals.
The Indian Sari originated ages and ages ago but till date it is the most elegant, sexy and graceful outfit worn by Indian women.
